TAMIL NADU PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION PROFICIENCY TEST IN TAMIL FOR THE OFFICERS OF THE INDIAN ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICE, INDIAN POLICE SERVICE AND INDIAN FOREST SERVICE BORNE ON TAMIL NADU STATE CADRE WHOSE MOTHER TONGUE IS NOT TAMIL - OCTOBER 2026

It is hereby notified that the Proficiency (written and oral) test in Tamil for the officers of the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service and Indian Forest Service borne on Tamil Nadu State Cadre whose mother-tongue is not Tamil will be held on 05th October 2026 and 12th October 2026 respectively. Persons who pass the test will be entitled to a monetary award of Rs.1,000/- (Rupees One Thousand only) each. I. Officers of the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service and Indian Forest Service borne on Tamil Nadu State Cadre whose mother- tongue is not Tamil and the probationers who have not completed five years of service after the probationers joined the state, alone will be eligible for admission to the test, provided they have not taken Tamil as a subject or passed any Examination in Tamil in S.S.L.C. and / or degree course. II. An Officer will be allowed only three attempts and only those who have not completed five years of service on the date of commencement of the examination will be eligible to apply.
III. The Examination will be conducted at the Office of the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission, TNPSC Road, Chennai - 600 003.
IV. The syllabus, the maximum marks and the minimum marks required for a pass and the duration of test are given in the Annexure to this notification.
