SUB: ENGAGEMENT OF ASSOCIATE (LEGAL) (ON CONTRACT) IN APEDA, NEW DELHI The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), an autonomous organization under the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India is mandated with the responsibility for promotion of agricultural and processed food products from India. APEDA has been actively involved in agricultural trade facilitation and intends to improve market access for Indian agricultural products at international level. The process involves improving quality of produce and achieving optimum shelf life resulting into increased quality exports of Indian agriculture products. It also requires addressing the issues of Sanitary & Phyto-Sanitary (SPS) and Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) which are currently resulting in poor market access and hampering exports. APEDA intends to hire talented, innovative and dynamic professional(s) for the position of Associate (Legal) (On Contract). 2. Type and Tenure of Engagement

2.1 The engagement shall be at the level of Associate (Legal). 2.2 Scope of Work: The selected candidate will be deputed by APEDA who will work dedicatedly to ensure the following in collaboration with the concerned central/ state department/ agencies: 2.2.1 Liaise with law firms engaged to represent APEDA. 2.2.2 Be willing to learn and develop expertise in a niche area such as the law related to protection of geographical indications. 2.2.3 Be proactive and take initiative in handling the work expeditiously. 2.2.4 Prioritize the work and manage time efficiently. 2.2.5 Maintain strict confidentiality, given that the matters are highly sensitive. 2.3 The engagement shall be purely on a contractual basis. 2.4 The engagement shall be initially for a period of one year including probation period of three weeks. The tenure of engagement may be extended on a year to year basis, depending on the performance evaluation. After three years no further extension will be permissible under any circumstances. 3. Qualification, Experience and Vacancies: Applicants with the following qualifications and experience would be considered for engagement as Associate (Legal).

Position Vacancy Discipline Educational Qualifications Associate (Legal) 1* Law Essential:

 Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B)  At least 2 years of work experience in the relevant field.  Knowledge of the basic concepts pertaining to intellectual property law.  Ability to communicate effectively and with clarity- this applies to both verbal and written communication skills.  Ability to adhere to strict deadlines and work efficiently under pressure.
